HFMD is a contagious viral infection common in young children. Look for these 10 signs: fever, sore throat, reduced appetite, mouth sores, drooling, painful swallowing, tiredness, irritability, and a red or blister-like rash on the hands and feet. Encourage plenty of fluids, soft foods, rest, and pediatrician-approved fever relief. Keep your child home while sick and practice good hand hygiene. Contact a pediatrician if symptoms are severe, your child cannot drink, or dehydration develops. Most children recover with supportive care.
